An agent who started their business in a market where they had little sphere of influence had this to say about her start up + transition to a new market in a new province within her first year.
How Katie set her up success long term in the first 6 months – “The [real estate] course doesn’t teach you applied skills or how to leverage your own natural talents….you helped me discover that I was a networker and I wouldn’t even have known that was an option…just that was transformative.
The impact Katie had on her business – yes the biggest piece was having a standard process that you adhere to – which made sense to me because it the work place that’s how I achieved and continue to achieve success – [she taught me to] never take anyone out without them being pre-approved and knowing I am getting paid for me time…things happen but that is a game changer.
Her financial success as a business owner because of Katie’s programs – I didn’t track money because im not money driven and didn’t have money goals but I liked the thrill of the hunt…so by tracking my leads and prospecting and what status they were at…allowed me to not drop the ball and have things to focus on even when I fell like i wasn’t “busy” lol which never actually happened
Other comments – Katie’s pez dispenser brain also helped me to understand that likely most realtors aren’t good at everything so to focus on what i was good at (building and leveraging my relationships/networking) and let other people be good at what they do…even if you have to pay them – accounting, marketing whatever…spend your time (money) doing what you’re good at. Having someone who has the experience of being a realtor who ‘get’s it the you can ask questions too…lean on for support in the first months is important…helps get you through that feeling of being lost and not knowing the next step – and i feel like Katie is the perfect person because she can relate to so many types of gifts and approaches and can coach to all of them. I doubt i would be a realtor now if it wasn’t for you Katie – or certainly not as competent as I am. I came to Calgary (mostly) equipped to work independently after spending six months with you – I’ve made a few mistakes that i wouldn’t have likely made if you were around (after the move) but – mostly equipped none the less
